Hi. My name is Ayub Yusuf. I am an aspiring DevOps Engineer with an interest in Software Development and this is a portfolio I have developed to showcase my Software Development skills and projects. At the moment my main skills are JavaScript, SQL, Git, Bash and Linux but i am in the process of learning much more such as Python, CI/CD tools like Jenkins or Azure DevOps Pipelines and IaC tools like Terraform or Ansible. I was a 2nd year Computer Hardware and Software Engineering student at University when I was unfortunately forced to withdraw due to chronic illness which is now thankfully under control. During my time away from university I took it upon myself to continue learning on my own and it was during this time that I taught myself my current skill set. I am also profoundly interested in the hardware aspect of computers which is why I dabble in learning Computer Architecture whenever i can. I hope you enjoy my work.

This is a web scraping project that I made using vanilla javascript on NodeJS. I used the puppeteer module with the nodejs environment to webscrape the latest covid 19 statistics with regards to deaths and cases both worldwide and in the UK from the internet. I then compiled the JavaScript file into an executable for linux using a useful package i found on npm called pkg.

By far the most complicated project I have done so far, ABox is a file storage service hosted on AWS where you can upload, download and share files with other ABox users. The app has 2 versions so far. v1 is built in accordance with the MVC software development model with a frontend view built in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, a rest API controller built with Nodejs, a PostgreSQL database to back it all up and an Nginx reverse proxy for security. It was also manually deployed to an AWS EC2 instance. v2 is built using NextJS and has a CI/CD pipeline using tools like GitHub Actions, Docker and Terraform. I undertook this project to learn the basics of full stack development, SQL and cloud computing
